October Vacations - Where to go in October

With summer tourism nothing but a distant memory, top vacation spots in the month of October vie for attention. Whether you travel throughout the United States or internationally, traveling in the month of October is a wise choice indeed. With the combination of less traffic, smaller crowds, and more pleasant weather, many spots continue to fight for the top vacation spot in October. Okay, so where to vacation in October?

New England

A fall foliage trip anywhere throughout the New England states is a trip that will leave you awe inspired. Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont are the six states that form New England. Each one offers its own unique gifts of color in the fall foliage parade. During fall, the air is crisp and fresh with colors of yellow, green, orange, and purple. You can stop at any one of hundreds of farm stands for a pick-your-own farm stand experience. Fresh fruits and vegetables sold directly from farm stands are an expected sight during Fall. Apple and pumpkin picking are a favorite along the way for many tourists as they breathe in the view of the Fall foliage. A long, tree-lined drive down a New England country road in search of the perfect picnic spot is a breath of fresh air. Perhaps, one last boat ride down the river with fall foliage as your backdrop will help to embrace the winter yet to come.

Orlando, Florida

While some families are gearing up for fall and winter, other families are thinking that they miss the heat of the summer. Many families plan a vacation to Orlando for their annual Disney vacation. A Disney vacation in October is a top vacation spot as all the tourists have gone home and the students that live in Florida have long since returned to school back in August. Lines are shorter and weather is more agreeable in Orlando in Florida. With the threat of hurricane season almost behind it, vacationing in Orlando in October is something to consider.

Jerusalem

If you were yearning to leave the United States and venture toward a hectic, yet rewarding trip steeped in religious history, perhaps October would be a good time to consider a trip to Jerusalem. If your heritage stems from Jerusalem, you may wish to take part in the festival of Sukkot. During this very busy holiday in October, celebrations in Jerusalem are extremely joyous as well as solemn. Just know that this is a very hectic, crowded time of year for the people of Jerusalem, and this experience may be exactly what you are seeking.

Tahiti

Perhaps a more soothing and enchanting vacation spot is what you have in mind. Then, Tahiti will definitely suit the bill. With drier temperatures during the day hovering around 80 degrees and lowering down to 70 degrees in the evening, the allure of an exotic getaway with sugar-sand beaches and azure waters awaits you. Of course, there is also Hawaii. There is never a bad time to visit Hawaii. May through October is the summer months in Hawaii and tend to stay drier.

Whether you are looking to take in the scenic route of fall foliage, get a few last shots of adrenaline from an amusement park ride, take a once-in-a-lifetime historical pilgrimage, or escape into an exquisite paradise retreat, October is a fantastic month to do so.
