It may be the first month of a new year, but January can be rather dull. The weather is often horrid, and going back to business as usual after all the fun of the holiday season is a big letdown. It often leaves us wishing it were time for summer vacation.

Hawaii – A trip to Hawaii could be just the pick-me-up you’re looking for in the dead of winter. The weather is just as lovely there in January as it is in July, so you’ll be able to enjoy all of your favorite outdoor activities. January is a great month for whale watching and you can also catch some sporting events throughout the month. If you travel early in the month, you may get to enjoy some New Year’s festivities as well.
Florida – If you're looking for a warm destination in January, Florida is another destination with lots to offer. From the second week of the month on, theme parks such as Disney World and Universal Studios are at their lowest attendance levels of the year, making for a more pleasant visit. Beach lovers will be happy to know that West Palm Beach and the Keys are usually warm enough for swimming and other water activities this time of year.
Mexico – January is a wonderful time to visit Mexico. The weather there is much warmer than most of the United States but not oppressively hot.
